Rosacea
Rosacea is a long-term inflammatory skin condition that appears as redness or flushing, commonly on the cheeks, nose, chin, or forehead. Although the exact cause of rosacea is unknown, studies show that it can occur due to genetic factors, immune dysfunction, and environmental influences.
Although this skin condition can be treated, leaving it untreated can worsen the condition by developing bumps and pimples. In some cases, especially in men, untreated rosacea on the nose area can cause the nose to become swollen from excessive tissue growth. Another common complication with untreated rosacea is irritated, bloodshot, or watery eyes.
Treatment
Rosacea is a chronic skin disorder but can be treated with different approaches such as:
- Topical medications: Metronidazole, Azelaic acid, Brimonidine, Ivermectin, and Sulfacetamide.
- Oral prescriptions: Antibiotics and Isotretinoin.
- Laser therapy: The Fotona SP Dynamis Laser is a powerful, advanced, high-performance machine that reduces inflammation through photoselective absorption and controlled heating effects. Fotona’s high-powered Nd laser safely penetrates the skin to an optimal treatment depth to thermally and selectively destroy overactive sebaceous glands. In addition to its thermal penetration effects, the Nd acne laser treatment also accelerates the healing process and stimulates collagen remodeling, an important step in the long-term treatment of acne.
